Subject    : Lifting of Moratorium on Vessel Registration under the Gambian Flag Effective 1st January 2026    
To    : Ship Owners / Managers / Operators / Port State Control Authorities /Local Agents/ Recognized Organizations / Deputy Registrars and all related maritime entities 

 We are pleased to inform you that the Gambia Maritime Administration has lifted the moratorium previously imposed on the registration of vessels under the Gambian flag, effective 1st January 2026.  

Maritime service providers are advised to coordinate with vessels they wish to register under the Gambian flag. It is important to note that the Administration will accept registration applications only through registered local agents.  
Furthermore, vessels that are sanctioned by the US, EU, UK, and Canada will be ineligible for registration under the Gambian flag, in line with our commitment to align with international standards and practices.  

We encourage all stakeholders to take the necessary steps to facilitate smooth registration processes and ensure compliance with the new guidelines.
